My understanding of a ghost in the paranormal arena is different from what many of you see in movies. It stems from my years of contact with them, where I practically lived with ghosts for a considerable part of my life. Ever since then, I have had many encounters, and it has shaped my understanding of them significantly.
What do you think a ghost is? Is it just a feeling, is it real, or is it something that people say, “it’s all in your head?” Before we proceed to a detailed understanding of the thing that we call a ghost, here is one thing that I want to clear – Ghosts are real, and there are no two ways about it.
Moving on, the first time when I experienced something that I couldn’t explain was when I was five. I used to live in my grandparents’ house, during vacations back in our small village. The house had a character of its own with a grand and ancient entrance and many closets – the one that you see and get a feeling that it is haunted.
My childhood has been marked by several encounters, most of which left me scared to the bones. With time I learned how to live with it and switch it off, the fear, for hours at a stretch.
With time and experience, I have realized that one this is certain – we cannot define ghosts like we define convex and concave lenses. No one knows for sure what a Ghost is; there is no one concrete definition. Everything about the paranormal is theoretical, and there are many theories to explain the experiences that people from around the globe have.
What do you mean by the term Ghost?
In the most simple terms of paranormal – ghosts are souls that have no body. They are people who have left their bodily abode but refuse to leave the earth. The reason can be numerous; the soul might be stuck because of some past trauma. They might not have achieved their purpose or attached to things, people, and places. Or sometimes they are just lost and confused, hence just not wanting to leave the site.
Just imagine, it is the usual sunny morning, you are driving to work, and then you meet with an accident. You were not ready for that, right? It will take some time to realize and process that you are gone and more time to accept and adjust, especially since you did not wish to go just yet. These ghosts are stuck in a limbo state – when they haunt the location or place of their death or ones that they admired during their life. These types of ghosts are not aware of their surroundings or human beings. They are stuck doing things they did when they were living, breathing soul.
“A soldier has been witnessed on multiple repeated occasions staring out a tower where he once stood guard. A child’s footstep is apparent in the corridors of an abandoned home. There have also been instances of ghost trains that are heard and sometimes seen on places where the tracks existed once.” Most of the encounters that human beings have are with such ghosts only. In contrast, there are souls who want to stay, well, because it’s their choice. They simply like it here and just don’t want to leave. Others are here to seek revenge and get things even. Those are the ones we need to watch out for!
How do Ghosts Stay Alive – in their World?
We already know that ghosts have nobody, and trust me when I say that it is not an inconvenience. With enough energy, ghosts have an extraordinary power to overcome the disadvantage of not having a body. Ghosts can be friendly, sad, angry, stuck, volatile, confused, stubborn, mean, and what not! All of them live off energy, which also includes energy assimilated from human beings.
In order to stay alive without a body, a ghost needs to derive and feed on energy. Failing to do so, they will eventually fade and get absorbed fully. Ghosts derive their energy from many places and numerous things. That energy can be derived from fellow ghosts who are frightened or fragile.
New ghosts still have a lot of energy from when they are alive. This energy of the paranormal is a source of attraction for the older ghosts who feed on that as well. Have you seen the flickering lights and drained batteries in horror movies? Well, it’s because ghosts can influence light and electricity to get that energy, too.
How do human beings become a source of energy for ghosts?
Human beings are one of the best sources of energy because of their emotions. These emotions create a lot of energy, which the ghosts feed on. Now when we are happy, sad, stressed, or angry, we refract a lot of energy. The heavier the emotion is, the denser the energy.
Just think don’t you feel carefree and light when you are happy? But you feel irritated, dense, and heavy when you are angry, scared, or stressed. For a ghost, the latter is like their dream dessert. That is why you feel a presence more when you are afraid, and that is why I felt all those things very early on in life. However, I have learned to switch off the fear that is for another blog. Don’t want to see a ghost? Be happy then!
To Conclude
So, are ghosts something real? Yes, they are in the paranormal world. If you experience something out of the ordinary, no, it’s not in your head. It is a profound, authentic, and every-going mystery that we will take some time to unearth.
To summarize, a ghost is nothing more than a human soul who is either stuck here, confused and lost, or has chosen to stay. They usually will not hurt you, but they can if they’re volatile enough. Mostly, if you can tone down the fear, you feel you’re more than half the way home of getting rid of them.
My advice to you
Please remember that any physical or emotional discomforts a person experiences can mostly be due to various diseases or emotional conditions he or she is going through. I have seen that majority of cases do not involve paranormal activity of any kind. Paranormal events are extremely rare occurrences. Hence your problems should be first brought to the notice of a qualified medical practitioner. I have often seen that the line between borderline personality disorders or other psychiatric disorders and “spirit possession” is thin. Hence a good paranormal investigator should advise his clients that professional medical care is the first solution or remedy for any physical or emotional discomfort.
Remember, you need to be a sceptic first to develop into a paranormal investigator. You need to rule out every single scientific possibility that is known to mankind to identify anything that is paranormal. Hence travel through the path of modern science, explore and unravel all facts using data and what cannot be explained through science is what we need to explore more through the paranormal arena. Most of your clients may feel desperate due to whatever they are going through. It’s your duty to act responsibly. Guide them through the path of modern science. Refrain from being a doctor or healer. There are qualified medical practitioners out there who can do their job well. Avoid any forms of advice on religious or cultural rituals or for that matter any ritualistic practices.
