According to Hinduism, a sage is a person of wisdom and clarity. He who attains self-realization through his work and grace is a sage. He is one with god, tat tvam asi as is known in Sanskrit and I am that I am, in English. This person who is called a sage has transcended the ocean of sufferings, emotions and feelings and hence comprehends the illusory world.
He does not react,
as there is no mind…
as there is no mind, there is no ego…
and as there is no ego, there is no sense of I.
and as there is no sense of I, there are no emotions.
He is neither opaque nor transparent. A sage understands that the self is the substratum of all life in different forms. He understands that everything is pre-ordained and is a manifestation of only a person’s mind.
A sage knows that he is the impermeable, infinite, imperturbable, luminous, birthless, deathless, formless, all-pervading, free consciousness. The body, which is just another garment, will perish and die, but the spirit will live on.
Sat chit Ananda or truth consciousness and bliss are his very nature.
