In a paranormal investigation, the paranormal investigators are constantly in search of evidence. In addition, the aim is to produce proof of the existence of ghosts and spirits. And to answer some very important questions that a lot of people want the answers to. To help with that there are certain tools and devices to aid in paranormal investigation. Since spirits and ghosts exist in a realm or plane which is substantially different than ours, we need these tools all the more. There are a lot of techniques used to record evidence of the paranormal, and using a digital video recorder camera is one of them. Let us learn more about it!
Digital Video Recorder Camera for Paranormal Investigation
Using a digital video recorder with an external infrared camera attached to it really helps you record multiple places at once without having to be there. The DVR systems used are very similar to those used in department stores and convenience stores for security purposes. The main difference is that those systems connect the cameras in a permanent stationary position, whereas most paranormal investigators use tripod systems to create temporary stationary systems.
The digital video recorder camera that most teams use are of the day/night variety. The purpose is simple – to record both in daylight and, especially, at night. There are many different types and styles of video cameras. Some can film up to eighty feet, while others can film all the way up to two hundred feet. Keep in mind, though, that you don’t want too many long-range cameras if you are doing home investigations. The smaller rooms will cause what I call “the wash-out effect” on the walls.
Digital Video Recorder Camera Are Connected in Different Ways Depending on Size
The cameras are connected in two different ways, depending on the size of the location that you’re recording. For smaller areas, the wireless option is viable. But for larger areas, the trick is to use cables. The type of IR camera setup cable will depend on the type of DVR and the distance from the cameras to the DVR. The cable comes in a variety of lengths. It can range from anywhere near twenty-five feet to upwards of three hundred feet. I prefer the one-hundred-foot length because it’s easier to manage and I haven’t found a real need for anything longer.
Paranormal Investigators use tripods in various styles and sizes also. It depends upon the size of the digital video recorder camera. There are tripods that sit on a table that are seven inches high, and we have others that are as high as fifty-six inches. We also have some that are very flexible and have legs that can be wrapped around a stationary item. While recording, make announcements as you enter and leave rooms, so you can track your progress through the place you’re investigating. That way you can have an easier time during the evidence review.
To Wrap it Up
You should make announcements because you can get lost while using a digital recorder camera for paranormal investigation. It happens to me all the time. I don’t always remember where I am or what room I was in ten minutes after I’ve left the room. Also, the team member doing the evidence review might be someone other than the person who made the recordings. Making announcements alleviates the headache of figuring out where the recording is from. When you set up the cameras, try to put them in a corner. And it is advisable to make them about shoulder high. That way the cameras can record the whole room.
