Oftentimes, we come across the term EVP in many paranormal TV shows and movies. You must have many times wondered what an EVP is and how does it actually work. Is it all fake? What is an EVP?
When it comes to EVPs, many people are still at a loss as to what exactly it is. Despite all that, there are a lot of theories out there. The simplest explanation that we can deduce is EVPs or Electronic Voice Phenomenal are unknown sounds or voices, for which there is no logical or intelligible explanation, which appears on electronic recordings. One theory on EVP states that the voices are projections of the person recording. While the other phenomenon states that the voices are a residual haunting and not really a spirit. Residual haunting basically means when a traumatic event happens on a site, the environment absorbs the energy associated with the event and merely replays the same events over and over.
The third theory claims that the sounds are extraterrestrial. But my experience states that most of the times, an EVP is the sound of voices of spirits who are attempting to contact the physical world. Some people claim that EVPs are answers to questions posed by the investigators recording. However, in a few cases, I have noticed that EVP is not caused by spirits and could be external energies or inhuman spirits. EVP’s are still one of the most researched phenomena in paranormal investigation circles today.
Why Has a Digital Device Gained Popularity?
Most paranormal expert today use a digital recorder for electronic voice phenomena detection. In the early days, most used an analogue, or tape, recorder. But such recorders have now become redundant. There are several reasons that have added to it, the first being the mechanical noises in the audio. The sounds from motors, tape movement, etc. can overlap with the actual EVP that the paranormal expert is trying to capture. This common problem, however, can be overcome by using an external microphone. Another problem with analogue recording equipment is the quality of the recordings it produces.
