When it comes to the paranormal, electromagnetic fields hold great significance. But do you know what it is? Well, in this blog we will look at what is an electromagnetic field and its significance in a paranormal investigation.
What is an Electromagnetic Field?
An electromagnetic field is a field generated when charged particles like electrons are accelerated. All electrically charged particles are surrounded by an electric field. In addition, these charged particles in motion create a magnetic field. What is useful for a paranormal investigator in an investigation is that when the velocity of these charged particles changes, a magnetic field is created.
What Are The Things That Are Responsible for Producing an Electromagnetic Field?
EMF is only significant for an investigator when other explainable sources of EMF are absent. The EMF meters, without exception, detect the range of fluctuation of magnetic fields. Also, that of electric fields, radio frequencies and microwave energy fields prevalent in modern environments. What with all kinds of electronic and electrical equipment in use everywhere, it becomes quite difficult and tricky. How is that? Well, it is next to impossible to separate the true reading from a false reading. Since at the time the reading may be coming from a man-made source, Therefore, when it comes to an electromagnetic field, the situation gets a bit tricky.
How is EMF Paranormally Significant?
Although we do not have any direct proof of this research has often concluded a lot in this direction. There is enough indication to show that when asked questions from paranormal beings, they often manipulate electromagnetic fields to produce a response. There have been many instances of such. However, often the reliability of this is doubtful. But with proper precaution, it is easy to determine if it is true or false. We are looking for two things when we talk about paranormally significant EMF communication:
1. That there is no source of EMF present in the area. This should be checked using various available instruments. 2. That the response that we get through the meter is intelligent. This can be checked by cross-questioning the source.
The efficacy of EMF meters has not yet been fully proven in the paranormal field. Therefore, if anyone is advertising that an EMF metre has ghost detection capabilities, it is probably not always correct. You may have to take it with total doubts and the proverbial pinch of salt. As you perform a paranormal investigation, look for any strong sources of electromagnetic radiation that could explain why the client feels a presence or has the feeling of being watched. Remember Occam’s razor: The simplest explanation is likely the correct one.
Electromagnetic Field and Psychology
According to the World Health Organization, some members of the public have attributed a diverse collection of symptoms to low levels of exposure to electromagnetic fields at home. Reported symptoms include headaches, anxiety, suicidal tendencies, depression, nausea, fatigue, and loss of libido. To date, scientific evidence does not support a link between these symptoms and exposure to electromagnetic fields. At least, the reason behind some of these health problems may be noise or other factors in the environment. In addition, it can also be because of or by anxiety related to the presence of new technologies.
One must know that the human body also uses low levels of electricity to operate. Therefore, even the human body is capable of generating its own electromagnetic field. Often many people observe that spurious electromagnetic radiation can have some effect on a person. Some authorities are concerned about the effects of electromagnetic radiation on the human body. Therefore, they postulate that strong electromagnetic fields can cause electro-stress. The symptoms of electro-stress can include:
- Sleep disturbances
- Concentration disturbances
- Circulation disturbances
- Headaches
- Tiredness
- Tinnitus
- Nervousness
- Allergies
- Asthma and other respiratory diseases
- Depression
- Decline in performance
- Burn-out syndrome
The Association for the Scientific Study of Anomalous Phenomena (ASSAP) in London is conducting research. The topic of research is to determine whether complex and weak fields of electromagnetic field radiation is harmful. It is called Experience Inducing Fields. And there are claims that it can produce hallucinations of spiritual manifestation. Their research seems to support this conclusion as an explanation in some cases.
Electromagnetic Fields and Paranormal Investigations
When it comes to paranormal investigations, some of the locations I have co-investigated have often had unbelievably high electromagnetic field readings. However, the reason behind this can lie in science. All those places of the investigation were old and marooned. Therefore, the chance of having old and faulty wiring was a lot. Therefore, these can be a reason behind those high EMF readings. In such a case, any AC EMF data is useless.
Even if you did get an unexplained reading, you can never be sure that it wasn’t man-made. On the other hand, readings coming from DC EMF data may have some veracity. However, when it comes to the general investigation area, you will probably get very low readings. The reason behind this is that they have their sources in things such as wiring or appliances.
Aside from this, if you get readings that measure around 4 mG and higher, you may need to be careful. Especially if already took a reading of the place which showed zero on the device but then suddenly went up to 4 mG, there may be a chance that there is something there. Therefore, in such a scenario, you will require to conduct a further investigation to locate the source if possible.
“Use the meter to isolate the anomalous field by tilting and turning it in various directions. This is also your hint to start taking pictures in order to capture any potential paranormal sources. If you happen to get an EMF reading which has no explanation and you can not support it by pictures and EVPs, consider this to be paranormally significant.”
